  • sleepy cat and randy frogs

little cat just fell asleep while eating, now there's a first.

he actually nodded off mid mouthful so i had to wake him up and get him to swallow. funny little critter.

we were just up the allotment planting shallots. he refused to stay in his pram so was helping me by crawling around in the grass and mud trying to eat everything. not the most relaxing of gardening trips!

in a spring mood i decided to try and clean the pond out a bit today, weeds and lillies and things taking over and not leaving a lot of space for fish and critters.

so i pulled out tons of yucky slimy stuff. fun. stinky yucky slimy stuff from out of which crawled two frogs. one big and one smaller. i just saw wiggly extra slimy things coming out of the gunk so screamed my head off before realising they were frogs.

well disturbing them seems to have given them spring time ideas too cause now i got two shagging frogs floating around the pond. yay to the potential new tadpoles. I'm not gonna let them all get eaten this year!

we had a very exciting weekend just gone. we took little cat up to see his nan and left him there...

    for a whole 24 hours.

i was worried about him and missing him the whole time, he on the other hand loved it. my mum played with him constantly, he had a whole new house to explore and another cat to chase.

in fact when we came to get him he burst into tears when he saw us!

twas good having a whole night of sleep tho. more of them please.

  • standing tall

little cat is upright. he's discovered standing up and he likes it. gotta say it scares the shit out of me tho. he already has one massive bruise on his forehead, god knows how many more he's gonna get.

i see sharp corners in my dreams.

fortunately the lounge is nearly sort of done now. i painted the remaining bits of wall, oh blue blue loberly blue. yes it may well make the room seem a bit smaller than the nasty magnolia it was but i don't care cause it a lovely blue... and clashes nicely with the one red wall.

    ace.

got a flatpack bookcase the other day and that's just gone up and is filled with what i hope is the last of the books.

    floorspace, we have floorspace.

which is really needed cause little cat is an explorer cat, he likes to crawl off at speed and find things to pull himself upright again. wobbly things usually.

    wobbly pointy things.

    eek.

i think he's gonna love nursery, loads of space to roam and lots of soft things to fall on.

and i could really do with a break from the little bugger, i is worn out from chasing!

hmmm. i seem to have melted cheese in my hair. well solidified cheese now but assume it was at one point melted.

    sigh.

  • happy valentines

twas a pretty good one, no card cause the boy is a silly bear but apart from that all good.

he came home with champagne, parma ham, melon, smoked salmon, salad, steaks, chocolates and dessert (all full price, not a yellow sticker in sight, must be love!). yum. fab meal.

course he did make me watch the stupid football but I'll let him off just this once :)

me and little cat have had a dead busy week. we registered at a nursery. tis v cute, a little scruffy but lovely. i think he'll like it.

we also filled holes and painted the wall that the boy had left. makes a big difference to the room, even tho the other wall and a half isn't painted either at least one corner looks done. plus i stuck down some pretty tiles where the fireplace used to be. oh grouting is fun.

then we got a few more cupboards and bit around the place. yes more flatpack. the whole house could be squished flat i recon!

i almost have a livable house. there's a wee problem with some floorboards that have rotted through by the front door that give off an enormous draft and make downstairs a wee bit too cold but it's next on the list... and we need to sand and varnish the rest of the floor, finish the shed, build another bookcase, rewire the lighting, blah blah blah but it is getting there.

    yay.

my mum was supposed to come down wednesday to do a solo look after little cat test run. in the end she was ill which was a real bummer cause i was planning on stalking captain jack...

god i love torchwood. and most of all him. mmmm him and spike from buffy gaying it up was the best telly I've seen in ages :)

so he was in town doing a book signing. i planned to stalk and possibly kidnap him but somehow i didn't recon I'd be too successful in making him fall in love and run away with me with little cat in tow.

    bums.

    foiled.

i did get out a bit tho. met up with mr jewish mother and newly divorced guy. we gonna do a website doodad. fun. we went to a pizza place and had a fab pizza with runny egg. little cat sat in his highchair and was a perfect little angel. how come he's always good around other people and is only a big grumpy bum for me ah?

ah he's not bad really he just don't like it when he doesn't have my complete attention. little munchkin.

this weekend the lovely miss bee is coming down for a visit. yay.

tis also the model expo thing that i always used to go to with my dad. boo,

last year i was huge and round and feeling very sad. i recall crying my heart out in front of the sterling engines while toy soldier boy looked panicked and helpless. poor bugger. pregnant and grieving. how the hell did i cope with that?

not sure i'll go this year. maybe next year when little cat can appreciate the robot wars and stuff...

hmmm. just remembered i missed lunch again. i always feed little cat but end up forgetting i have to eat too. better have a few chocolates so i don't faint :)

  • we have shelfage

all done. yipeeeee. only took close to a year.

    ahhhh.

saturday we went to town for a quick bumble around which turned into hours of the boy shopping and me worrying about little cat getting hungry. got home and after a sit down and a stare into space, at about 4.00pm the boy leapt slowly into action...

by sunday at 2.00 they were done.

so i move all the books onto the shelves. it's very close and there are a few piles left over but they just about fit. yay for my amazing estimation skills.

putting up the second half of books which are mostly toy soldier boys i was getting a concerned. just when you think there can't be any more hitler books up pops another one.

    deep joy.

well it may be a half nazi bookshelf but at least it is a bookshelf.

buoyed by the big wadge of space that moving the books had cleared yesterday i decided to put up the ikea wardrobe we got for tidying away his shoe collection.

hmmm. when it says you need two people to put things up sometimes it's not lying.

little cat found it quite amusing when the top bit fell down, slowing only when it hit my head, and crashed through the bottom bit.

it's made from paper and spit it seems and was completely buggered.

brill. and i can just hear the boy crowing about his superior diy skills. i can't be bothered to point out that the shelves are wonky, he'll just say it's the walls not him.

anyways this did not put me in the best of moods. and the little cat all teething and grumpy. poop.

and then the heating goes off and the boiler won't turn on.

fucking ah. it's pissing bloody freezing. you know that calling a plumber will cost a fortune and take an age and the little cat will get all cold and just sob.

i love the interweb. a quick bit of googling and we find some stuff on how to fix boilers, twiddle a few pipes and badabing. we have heat.

    it's all looking up.

and today i wrestled the pieces of wardrobe into something that if you squint resembles a wardrobe and hasn't fallen down yet. next to fill it with shoes. probably should wait till the no more nails i liberally smeared it with dries tho. as it is the only thing holding it together :)

oh and sending out lots of love to poor pedant boy, he got all squished by a car on his bike. i missing getting thrashed at scrabble by ya, only mr blabber mouth and mrs jewish mother are doing that now!

    get well soon.

  • no pheasant to report

as yet. still on it's way apparently.

he did however take thursday off to complete the shelves.

    hmmmm.

now i don't want to criticise or anything but how the holey fuck can it take so long? all that was left to do was to attach three big bits of wood to the wall and screw on 12 batons.

well not having the right screws and having to go to B&Q (yes again) can't of helped but it got to 8.00pm and half a set of shelves was completed.

    right.

and that's not even going into how foul he was to be around. I'm trying to help, offering to hold things, make tea, etc, all while juggling a teething, snuffly bab and he's just the grumpiest thing you've ever met.

really i don't want to be in the same room with him, he snarl and growls and whines about everything from the weather downwards.

and when he's given up for the evening he's all depressed cause it doesn't look amazing.

what the fuck did you expect? it's some bits of fucking wood nailed to a badly plastered, half painted wall.

if you'd just let me buy the pissing ikea shelves it would have been done around 6 months ago, cost a million pounds less and looked better. idiot.

but i'm trying to stay nice, i don't say this, it's almost done, i can put half the books up, it's all good.

when his mood finally brightens after much ice cream and baby bouncing he says he always gets like that when he has to do stuff. jesus. and i thought i was a nightmare to work with, what must he be like?

today me and little cat spent a fun hour putting books on the half a shelf. with books it don't look too bad. we def need the other half tho cause there's a ton of books left. mostly his huge hitler and american civil war ones. think I'm gonna segregate the shelves so no one mistakes his books for mine :)

so even he can't take another whole weekend to finish it, it's gotta be done soon. i shall do a little dance and never try to get him to do anything ever again. the floor is covered in plaster and paint needs sanding and varnishing and boards replacing and polishing, the rest of the shelfless wall needs plastering and painting, there is a huge whole by the ceiling and the front door which both let in huge drafts but i don't care. i shall have bookshelves!
